ANNOUNCEMENT | Legacy ProQA (v3.x)

Having received questions on how much longer Legacy ProQA (v3.x) will be supported, the following information is provided for planning purposes.

FPDS v6.0, MPDS v13.0, and PPDS v4.2 are available in ProQA Paramount only. The ProQA software license agreement allows for up to 90 days to implement upgrades once they are released. The Academy allows for up to one year to upgrade a protocol version from the time of release. As such, PDC will support Legacy ProQA, but not update nor make any fixes until the Academy's protocol upgrade window expires. Thus, "End-of-Life" for Legacy ProQA (all disciplines) is tentatively anticipated for July 31, 2014.

Currently, Police v4.2 is only available in ProQA Paramount. As Police v 4.1 was released 11/1/2011, active support of Legacy ProQA (v3.x), and previous EPD protocols, expired on 12/31/2012.

Logic Updates:

Paramount v5.1.1.18

Fire v6.0|v6.1a (Considered v6.1 in Paramount)

  • When the Sinking vehicle or Vehicle in floodwater ECHOs are selected in Case Entry, the Special Definitions box now appears on the KQ "What type of body of water is this?" as a reminder for the local definitions of LARGE and SMALL FLOOD Water.

Fire v6.1a (Considered v6.1 in Paramount)

  • BZP, NLD, and UKE STD - General Release. The Brazilian Portuguese, Netherland Dutch and United Kingdom STD versions is now available.

Medical v12.2/v13.0

  • Case Entry Protocol
    • A new sentence was added in the Chief Complaint selection help box: "(1st party) If breathing appears to be INEFFECTIVE, back up to change the Breathing auto-answer from 'Yes.' " In 1st party cases, the Conscious and Breathing fields are fast-tracked and automatically populated with “Yes,” so this is a reminder for the calltaker to go back and change the auto-answer when necessary.
  • Protocol D
    • The 1st party instructions for monitoring the patient's breathing on Panel D-9 were revised to eliminate some nonsensical instructions and include the calming statements:
      • I am right here with you.
      • Just keep trying to clear your airway by coughing

Medical v13.0

  • ANZ and LAS STD - General Release. The Australian/New Zealand and Latin America Spanish STD versions are now available.
  • Protocol 6
    • The new answer choices "Yes - has tracheostomy" and "Unknown - has tracheostomy" were added to the KQ "Is s/he completely alert (responding appropriately)?" This will prevent the calltaker from skipping the subsequent tracheostomy-related KQs when the patient's breathing is reported as INEFFECTIVE or UNCERTAIN in Case Entry.
  • Protocol 11 - OMEGA Version only
    • If a case results in the 11-O-1 dispatch, the calltaker will likely need to go to Panel X-1 instead of Protocol D, so a DLS Link to Panel X-1 was added. (This link does not exist in the Standard version.)
  • Protocol 29 - UKE Version only
    • The missing answers, "One," "Two,"and "Three" were added back in the KQ "How many people are inside?" which appears for Sinking vehicle and Vehicle in floodwater incidents.)
  • Protocol 29
    • The smart PDI logic was adjusted for PDI-d: "(Water) Do not go in the water unless it's safe to do so." This PDI is now grayed out for incidents that are not likely to include water (e.g., vehicle vs. building, subway/metro, train, street car/tram/light rail, etc.). It is also grayed out for 1st party callers.
  • Protocol 33
    • The KQ "Is this a sudden or unexpected change in her/his usual condition?" that is asked if a patient is not breathing normally was in certain cases auto-answered to "No." This was fixed, and the calltaker now does not need to back up to change the skipped answer.

Police v5.0

  • UKE UKP - General Release. United Kingdom UKP version is not available
  • Global
    • The answer choice "Past (info):" was moved below the answer choice "Past" in the KQ "When did this happen?"
    • A new answer choice "On scene (info):" was added in the list of answer choices for the KQ "Where's the suspect/person now?" It allows the calltaker to record additional information about the suspect who is on scene in the pop-up comment box.
  • Protocol 108
    • A new answer choice "Unknown" was added to the KQ "Without getting any closer or touching the package/letter/item, describe it to me."
  • Protocol 109
    • The CEI #1 "Refer to agency policy on documenting suspect/caller characteristics" is now highlighted (not grayed out) for all callers. It used to be highlighted only if the caller party was selected as Suspect.
  • Protocol 125
    • A new answer choice "Other:" now appears in the KQ "∅Select where the service is needed" for lock-out/lock-in incidents.
    • In the same KQ, the answer choice "Premises (non-vehicle)" was changed to "Premises (residence/building)."
  • Protocol 131
    • The answer choice "No" in the KQ "Are all of the drivers still there?" was split into two answers - "No (info):" and "No (HIT-AND-RUN)."
    • The answer choice "No (info):" allows the calltaker to record additional information in the pop-up comment box but does not prompt the subsequent KQs about the suspect (how they left, their vehicle description, what direction they were going, etc.)
    • The answer choice "No (HIT-AND-RUN)" generates one of the HIT-AND-RUN codes and triggers the follow-up KQs about the suspect.

25 May 2016 | Fire Priority Dispatch System® v6.1a | Update Rationale

Update Rationale

Natural gas is the main heat source in more than 65 million American households. It is one of the safest and cleanest-burning fossil fuel sources, and it is used to power gas stoves, water heaters, and other essential home appliances.

While rare, natural gas line leaks can be extremely dangerous. The most telling sign of a leak is the familiar sulfuric or "rotten egg" odor of the natural gas, which is intentionally added so a leak can be detected.

The biggest hazard of a natural gas leak is an explosion. When natural gas builds up in an enclosed area, it becomes extremely volatile. A gas buildup has the potential to explode or to make those in the area very sick.

While using the FPDS, the foremost chief complaint of a "rotten eggs or sulfur" odor should be handled on Protocol 60: Gas Leak/Gas Odor (Natural and LP Gases). As a safety net, Protocol 66: Odor (Strange/Unknown) shunts the calltaker to Protocol 60 for "Natural or LP gas" to which the clarifier "(rotten eggs/sulfur)" has been added.

For chemical suicide, the foremost chief complaint is usually an unresponsive person in a vehicle or small confined space—such as a closet or bathroom—with warning signs taped up. The odor of rotten eggs or sulfur may also be present; however, the odor is secondary to the foremost chief complaint of a chemical suicide.

Formerly, Protocol 66 had a gray shunt for "Rotten eggs/Sulfur (HAZMAT)" to Protocol 61: HAZMAT, but this shunt has been modified in FPDS v6.1a to remove the description of "Rotten eggs/Sulfur" and now appears as "Chemical/HAZMAT" to prevent incorrectly shunting to Protocol 61. Two new rules have also been added to Protocol 66 to aid calltakers in choosing the most appropriate protocol.

Rule 5:
If the foremost chief complaint is an odor of rotten eggs or sulfur, use Protocol 60.

Rule 6:
If the foremost chief complaint includes an unconscious person in a vehicle or enclosed space AND an odor of rotten eggs or sulfur, use Protocol 61.

16 February 2016 | AQUA Evolution® (6.1.0.15) | Update Available

An update for AQUA Evolution v6.1 has been released to the AQUA v6 FTP site.

AQUA Evolution v6.1 users should apply this update as soon as possible. Please request FTP access at: www.prioritydispatch.net/support/form_ftp.php

This version requires XLerator Server v4.0.0.61 / XLerator Console v4.0.0.41. The AQUA and XLerator installers can be found on the AQUA v6 FTP site.

Please note we have changed our installers:
If a custom path is chosen the original install will be uninstalled, please read all instructions before upgrading. If you choose to install to a custom path and also have the software in the default location (\Priority Dispatch\AQUA Evolution v6) you will want to copy the original folder, it does not need to be renamed but does need to be a copy (AQUA Evolution v6_Copy). During the install to the custom path the software will uninstall the default path, once the install is finished, delete out the original folder and rename the copy to the original name.

ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR DATA AND TEST SOFTWARE BEFORE FULLY DEPLOYING.
For AQUA Evolution v6.1 users, this includes the \xldb directory as well as the licenses.dat and xlerator.dat file located in the XLerator4 folder.

Release Notes:
A PDF detailing these changes can be found on the AQUA v6 FTP site.

  • Resolved issue with Team and Position not importing in a merge file.
  • Added ability to change logged in users password, this functionality can be found under Menu bar - File.
  • When reviewing a call taken via cardsets the Logic Version and Protocol Type will now populate to the version/type set in the Agency Info - Agency List option after the EDQ has left the Agency field in Case Evaluation Basics, the EDQs will still have the ability to adjust these fields to different version/types as needed.
  • Resolved issue with the ACE Calculator not displaying correctly for centers with multiple agencies.
  • Resolved issue where AQUA was not receiving messages from XLConsole. This allows the IT or XLerator Server Administrator to broadcast a message to all users or specific alias users to alert them of re-booting of the server or perhaps updating of the software. For AQUA users this message will open immediately.
  • Resolved issue with AQUA not receiving messages sent via XLerator Console. If a message is sent via XLerator Console a window will appear inside of the AQUA program.
  • Resolved issue with Incident Performance Report not displaying all text with longer languages.

Please contact your Regional Account Manager if your agency is currently on AQUA Evolution v5.6 as this version requires a new dongle and new licensing. The AQUA v6.1 software is on its own FTP site.

XLUpdate
XLerator and AQUA have the ability to be updated using the XLUpdate program which replaces the necessity of running installers for XLerator and AQUA machines. The program updates the XLerator Server and published folders on XLerator server by attaching to PDC's Server, then the dispatch consoles are updated against your XLerator Server's published directories. For further information on XLUpdate, refer to the XLerator Server v4 Install, Uninstall, and Configuration guide found on the AQUA v6 FTP site.

Please feel free to contact Software Support in the event you have questions or need assistance: software.support@prioritydispatch.net, 1-801-363-9127 Option 7 (International), or 1-866-777-3911 (North America).

28 October 2013 | Fire v6.0 ProQA Paramount 5.0.0.675 General Release Available

This release contains many changes in protocol, removal/addition/changes to Determinant Codes/suffixes and the addition of the Chemical Suicide Diagnostic tool.

We strongly encourage this is placed on a testing/training environment until the Determinant changes are in place and tested.

The FPDS v6.0 Update Guide for NAE and details on installing the software can be located on the Paramount FTP site under the Fire Executable\Protocol 6.0 folder.

Contact technical.support@prioritydispatch.net for the Paramount v6.0 Response Configuration Worksheet prior to installing Paramount Fire v6.0.

Prior to attempting the install please BE AWARE of the following:

  1. As soon as the installation starts it will remove all programs in the default Fire directory if you want to keep Fire v5 on your machine while testing Fire v6 please follow the steps below.
  2. We strongly recommend installing v6 on a testing/training environment as changes have been made to all except 2 protocols and 2 new protocols were added.
  3. Launch Fire v5 Admin Utility - Import/Export - Export Profiles - This will help you keep the same settings you have already configured for v5 and allow you to add them to v6. In file name enter in the location of where you would like to store the settings from Fire v5, suggested name for this profile is Fire_v5_Profile. This will allow ease of recovery if needed.
  4. For testing in XLerator Console, add an Alias named Fire_v6, Script ProQA Fire, db name Fire_v6, this will keep your v5 and v6 data separate and make it easier to delete out test records. Do not forget to add Administrator users to this account which enable you to access the Fire v6 Admin Utility.

Due to changes in the software installers please follow the steps as listed. These instructions assume you will be keeping Fire v5 on your consoles for fallback/comparison purposes.

  1. Verify you are on the most current version of XLerator Console, you will need to be on v3.5.40.447, if you are not on the most current version this can be downloaded from the Paramount FTP site. If you are upgrading to .447 and are an AQUA user you must upgrade your AQUA to v5.6.1.240, if you do not AQUA will give a message that the database and AQUA are not on the same level.
  2. Prior to installing Fire v6 to keep a copy of v5 you must make a copy of your \Priority Dispatch\ProQA\Fire directory, please do not simply rename the folder you will need the original \Fire and a copy name \Fire_v5.
  3. Next install v6 running the .exe, leave to the default Fire directory.
  4. Launch Fire Admin utility (now v6.0) from the \Fire directory, choose the alias created in Step D above.
  5. To configure the Admin Utility for v6 to match what was previously configure in your v5 go to Import/Export - Import Profile. Import in the export file created in Step C above.
Note: The imported profile will have any changes you may have made in the v5 Response Configurations. If the code no longer applies it will not be there, however please closely check your Reponses against the Determinant Code changes in the FPDS v6 Update Guide as many new Determinant codes and suffixes have been added and some codes have shifted down, as an example what was a 57-D-3 Commercial/Industrial building is v5 is now a 57-D-4 in v6, this may affect your response assignments.

13 April 2011 | Urgent Medical ProQA Update Release Notification

An issue was introduced in the last released ProQA v3.4.3.30 build date 25 Jan 2011 and placed on the ftp site on 23 Feb 2011. In this version, if a manual protocol change from any Protocol to Protocol 28 was selected from the top Chief Complaint selection list, ProQA would not recommend a send code nor pass one to CAD. While this would be an uncommon thing to do, you need to be sure to update your ProQA version to v3.4.3.31 immediately. If your version is before v3.4.3.30, this problem would not be present, but we urge you to please update now anyway for the other changes and improvements listed. You must use the Installer on the ftp site which will also update and keep the Administration Utility and the Logic/Language files in synch with the new build.

18 October 2010 | AQUA (5.6) Update

A new version of AQUA Phoenix, version 5.6.1.149, has been released on our FTP site. A new build of XLerator, version 3.5.44.802, is also located on the FTP site. This XLerator build must be installed in conjunction with AQUA 5.6.1.149. These builds add many enhancements and updates.

DO NOT INSTALL AQUA 5.6 WITHOUT CONTACTING PDC AND REQUESTING A NEW DONGLE - Failure to do so will cause AQUA to cease to function.

With the release of AQUA 5.6, we have moved the licensing from the individual workstation to the server and it is now handled by XLerator. This will save the hassle of multiple dongles and a dongle on each AQUA workstation. To request a new AQUA 5.6 dongle, please contact Technical Support. Once this request is received, new dongle(s) will be coded and license codes for your versions of AQUA will be sent to you. Please contact Technical Support for additional information or questions.

To avoid any problems during the upgrade please follow all instructions in order.

Upgrading ALL VERSIONS: As always, with any software update, BACKUP your existing program and DATA.

21 September 2010 | ProQA Medical Update

A new build of Medical ProQA has been placed on the ProQA FTP site that incorporates the following fixes:

Protocol 29:

A new answer choice was added to KQ1: "Solitary motorcycle". Its logic, if uncomplicated by other high mechanism, safety issues, or priority symptoms, will select determinant 29-B-1. This differentiates this logic from auto-motorcycle.

Protocol 34:

A new answer choice was added to KQ3: "Solitary motorcycle". Its logic, if uncomplicated by other high mechanism, safety issues, or priority symptoms, will select determinant 34-B-1. This differentiates this logic from auto-motorcycle.

Case Entry:

Due to a previous recent change in the Awake/Breathing answer combination auto-recommended chief complaints (red CCs at top of list), a modification was made to the list displays to ensure that P31 was still present.

This release also now supports installation on 64bit operating systems.

Additionally, new installers for ProQA Fire and Police have been placed in their respective folders on the ProQA FTP site. These installers now support installation on 64bit operating systems.

31 March 2010 | Medical (v12.1) Update (Only NAE, USS, UKE, AUE, EUG)

Protocol 36 Pandemic/Epidemic/Outbreak (Officially Enacted), has had major updates done that are only available in Medical v12.1. The determinant descriptor codes have been re-ordered to accommodate enhanced protocol logic and new codes. As such, a backup of your current Response Configuration Utility should be completed before updating ProQA to v12.1 (see instructions, below).

Protocol 28 has been revised to incorporate the Stroke Diagnostic Tool. Twelve new Determinant Suffixes have been added that will reflect the Stroke Diagnostic?s recommendation and aid in studying and identifying the specific symptoms that are most predictive of stroke.

The new Stroke Diagnostic Tool, triggered in Protocol 28 Key Questions, will enable more accurate evaluation and identification of acute stroke patients.

In the Aspirin Diagnostic and Instructions Tool, Diagnostic Question 4 has been moved to position 1.

Protocol 27 has a new suffix "Y = Self-inflicted stab," which will be used when shunting from Protocol 25 to enhance responder safety information.

Protocol 37: Interfacility Evaluation/Transfer was designed by a special Academy task force as an alternative to Protocol 33. It is available in ProQA only.

Earlier dispatch has been added on Protocols 6 and 10 (in ProQA only) for certain patients that require critical care. If the patient is not alert and/or is having difficulty speaking between breaths, the dispatch now occurs immediately after the KQ "Does s/he have difficulty speaking (crying) between breaths?"

IMPORTANT NOTICE (V12.1 ONLY)
Due to changes to Protocol 36, the Medical Response Configuration Utility must be updated. The following process MUST be followed to ensure that existing locally defined responses are not lost:
1. Open the current ProQA Response Configuration Utility and under the file menu select export.
2. Export the .exp file to a location (Make sure rename the *.exp to a user friendly name such as "response_export.exp.")
3. Update ProQA with the installers
4. Open the new ProQA Response Configuration utility and under the file menu select import.
